Rescue:
Pet Patrol received a message from a woman who lives out of town. She runs a cat rescue
organization there and had received calls from three different people about a colony of approximately
35 cats on one property, mostly kittens. The cats were fed and had fresh water,
but shelter was at a minimum and the environment was treacherous for kittens. She had sent
out notices to about forty different rescues to see if some could help, just taking a few cats
here and there makes a big difference. None of the local rescues or city shelters were able to
help her at that time. Pet Patrol was able to take in four kittens (Tiberius being one of them),
and this woman organized a relay along the 401 to meet rescue volunteers to transport the
cats to their new shelters. She had at least five stops on her journey which is extremely time
consuming and dedicated. Koodos to her. All the kittens were fairly social but happy little
cats. There was also a pregnant female who gave birth within a weeks’ time and had seven
lovely kittens! All are doing well in their foster homes, happy and healthy and ready for their
forever families.
Personality:
Named after Star Trek’s James Tiberius Kirk this little kitty has come a long way in his socializing
and being ready for adoption. Initially he was just a little timid like three of the four kittens
brought into Pet Patrol care, but with time and patience, other affectionate cats and a passive
resident dog in his foster home, he has done well. He is like all other kittens, quite playful and
active. His favourite toys are those that dangle from a wand and anything he can chase. He is
fun loving and happy to be with other cats. Tiberius is now a people cat, he can be pet and is
learning about laps. He is ready to be adopted into his forever home. One that will welcome
his into the family and keep him safely indoors.
