Rescue:
Pet Patrol received an email from a woman who has brought stray cats to us in the past. She
is quite passionate about the cats who have nothing to their name, no owner, no shelter and no
one to care for them. She sets up feeding stations in town, to make sure they are safe and
warm in the winter, puts out food and water daily and keeps track of them. On one occasion a
pretty little brown tabby named Jeri, went missing early in the year and suddenly came back
one hot and windy day. “She has been far more fearful since her return. I can’t get near her at
all and unfortunately, I believe she is pregnant.” Jeri’s appetite is voracious and from a photo
taken from a distance, it was apparent that this petite cat was nursing kittens. A humane trap
was set up and it didn’t take long to rescue Jeri, but she had indeed given birth, and shortly
after her rescue her kittens were found under a shed and all brought into Pet Patrol care.
Personality:
Written by her foster mom: It has been a pleasure to observe and interact with Jeri these past
months. She went from being a protective and standoffish mama of 5 kittens to being a playful
and affectionate companion. She will do well in an adult home or a quiet home with a patient
older child. Her new family will need some gentle perseverance but this loving girl will gradually
gain trust with you especially if you supply her favourite Temptations treats and gently rub her
neck and ears. She enjoys the company of other cats and is very curious and accepting of our
resident cats but tentative with our large and small breed dogs. She absolutely loves her toys!
If you want to play with her, she will happily join in a game with the wand teaser, jumping and
catching the ribbons! Her favourite toy is her chirping bird stuffie. Jeri loves to chat with you,
greet you every morning and respond as you talk with her. I have no doubt she will blossom
even more with the right family. Jeri is ready to be adopted into her forever home. One that
will welcome her into the family and keep her safely indoors..
