Rescue:
One of Pet Patrol‘s Volunteers was contacted by her country neighbour about a beautiful big
black cat who had been noticed in her roadside culvert. There is nothing warm and comforting
about a drainage culvert. The woman started to take food out for this timid cat and then
one day she noticed him sunning himself on her front porch. He could easily be pet after
that. Often, he would be at the windows teasing her dog by staring at him, but he adored
people. On the coldest nights the woman brought him into her laundry room as the weather
was far too brutal for any domesticated animal to be outside. After about a week it was
obvious that Deacon did not have a permanent home and our volunteer went to pick him up.
He was the easiest cat to get into a carrier after canned food was put on a spoon under his
nose, and he followed the spoon into the carrier, the door was quickly shut behind him.
Personality:
Deacon is a big beautiful cat. He is tall and long, friendly and very affectionate. He is an
amazing cat. It is unknown where he originally came from as there were never any posters
put up in this area or anything posted on the local social media. But he must have been a
great cat in his original home. He is good with other cats, dogs, children, new people, and
new environments. Making himself very much at home and enjoying all the love and attention
he receives. Deacon is ready to be adopted into his forever home, one that will welcome
him into the family and keep him safely indoors
