Rescue:
Pet Patrol received a call from a neighbouring farm that said they had more cats than they
needed and would we like some. When our volunteers arrived there were four or five teen
aged cats that were all friendly and good with children. They came into our care, were spayed
and neutered and have found homes. While at the farm we were introduced to Candy and her
kittens. She had six babies first discovered in a little nest that was boxed in by bales of hay
and the cement wall of the barn. The kittens were on a bed of stiff straw and as soon as they
heard a person’s voice they would scream out for help. The poor little ones
were very malnourished because Candy didn’t have enough milk for them. Seeing how thin she
was it was obvious that she needed to be brought into our care as well. Her kittens had to be
bottle-fed three times a day for the first week and a half just to help them regain their weight
otherwise they would have perished. Candy adjusted to her new environment at her foster
home easily.
Personality:
Candy is a lovable cat. She is very sweet and affectionate, such a good mother and such good
company. She is easy to pick up and cuddle, carry and have on your lap. She instantly makes
herself at home and will explore her new environment, gracefully going from room to room
seeing where everything is. She has never been in a real home before, so she does not know
what a kitchen is, a people bed or television. It will be an exciting thing for her to discover.
Candy is a gentle player and likes things that dangle and plastic springs to chase. She is good
with other cats and very calm and easy going. This pretty girl is ready to be adopted into her
forever home. One that will welcome her into the family and keep her safely indoors
