ADOPTION PROFILE

Rakita

Rakita

Rakita

Rescue:

Pet Patrol was alerted to a rural property where the number of cats had quietly grown beyond what
one family could manage. After an elderly woman passed away, her daughter inherited the property
and the many cats her mother had lovingly cared for over the years. As time went on, it became
clear that keeping up with spaying and neutering had become impossible, and by the time help
arrived, there were 12 adult cats and 19 kittens living throughout the property. The cats had
managed to create cozy little shelters for themselves amongst the farm equipment. A heat lamp in
the chicken coop helped keep many of them warm, and despite their circumstances, the cats were
healthy, friendly, and eager for attention. Volunteers were greeted by affectionate adults weaving
around their legs while tiny kittens peeked out shyly from behind abandoned fridges, stacked lawn
chairs, and hidden corners before slowly venturing out to investigate. They were safely brought into
Pet Patrol’s care, where they could begin their next chapter in loving foster homes.

Personality:

Rakita has come incredibly far in foster care and is blossoming into the sweet, curious girl we
always knew was there. She clearly wants to be loved and involved with her people, rubbing
against legs and door frames, enjoying bum scratches, and adorably flopping over to make air
biscuits when you babytalk to her. She loves toys, Churus, lounging on the couch, and watching
everything her humans do, and would thrive with a family willing to give her the time and patience
she needs to become comfortable at her own pace. Most of all, Rakita adores other cats and finds
tremendous comfort in their companionship, cuddling, playing, grooming, and nuzzling her feline
friends. She shares an especially sweet friendship with Nemo and would love to be adopted with
him; otherwise, she must have another friendly cat in her new home. With a feline friend beside her
and understanding people to continue cheering her on, Rakita is ready to be adopted into her
forever home—one that will welcome her into the family and keep her safely indoors.
