Rescue:
Nemo’s journey to safety began thanks to one of Pet Patrol’s longtime volunteers. Every day she
faithfully put food out at her porch feeding station, where as many as sixteen cats—and even the
occasional possum—would stop by to eat. One day, she noticed a new cat and quickly realized
she was nursing kittens. Determined to find the little family before they were exposed to danger,
she began asking neighbours if anyone had seen them. Her search eventually led her several
houses away to a child’s playhouse, where the mother had tucked her kittens away. While it
seemed like a cozy hiding place, the yard backed onto open fields, a creek, and dense woods,
leaving the kittens vulnerable to predators. Knowing they couldn’t stay there, the rescue began.
Little Nemo was the first to be safely picked up. With patience, perseverance, and the help of a
humane trap, the rest of the family was rescued soon afterward.
Personality:
Wherever Dewey goes, there’s a very good chance Nemo is right behind him. This gentle little boy
absolutely adores other cats, and while Dewey is clearly his favourite, Nemo is happiest whenever
he has a feline friend nearby. Once so frightened that he greeted people with plenty of hisses, he
has blossomed into the sweetest, most polite kitten who simply looks up at you with those
irresistible eyes when he would like some attention. Nemo purrs when you pet him, purrs when he
hears another cat purring, and sometimes seems to purr simply because he’s happy. He loves
tunnels and strings, grooms his kitten friends, checks on the shyer girls, and can often be found
quite literally draped over another kitten while sleeping. Nemo is still gaining confidence with
heights and being held, preferring to be cuddled securely and close. He truly relies on other cats for
reassurance and would love to be adopted with Dewey or DeeDee, but most importantly, he needs
another young, friendly cat in his forever home to play with, learn from, and snuggle beside. Nemo
