Rescue:
Gomer had always known life as a beloved family cat. He originally belonged to a man who adored
him, but when his marriage ended and he moved to another country, Gomer remained behind with
his wife and their young daughter. He continued to be very much loved, and they never imagined
there would come a day when they would have to give him up. Unfortunately, when the woman
made the difficult decision to return to her home country, she suddenly needed to find Gomer
somewhere safe to go. With few friends or family nearby and very little time, her options were
limited. Gomer had not yet been neutered, which made finding someone willing to take him even
more difficult. When she contacted Pet Patrol and was asked when she would be leaving, her
answer came as a shock: that very day, with a 3 p.m. trip to the airport. We had only a few hours to
make arrangements. The only other option offered to her was a farm where Gomer would begin his
new life living in a shed—something she desperately did not want for a sweet indoor cat who had
always known the comforts of a family home. Thankfully, Pet Patrol was able to step in, and within
hours Gomer was safely in our care. His life may have changed unexpectedly, but he will have the
chance to once again know the security of a loving family.
Personality:
Gomer is everything you could hope for in a wonderful family cat. Friendly, laidback, social, and
well behaved, he spent much of his life as a cherished companion and is completely comfortable
being part of a busy household. He especially enjoyed the company of the young daughter in his
previous home, who was under twelve and absolutely adored him, so Gomer would be happy to
once again have children to love. He is also perfectly content being the only cat, where he can soak
up all the attention for himself. Gomer enjoys playing with his toys, making good use of his
scratching posts and climbers, and simply being part of everyday family life. Sweet, easygoing, and
an allaround good guy, Gomer is ready to be adopted into his forever home—one that will
welcome him into the family and keep him safely indoors.
