I wanted to say thank you.
My surgery went really well, my sore spots have healed, and I’m feeling so much better these days. It’s amazing what happens when you’re no longer carrying around painful mats, old wounds, and all the aches that come with surviving outside.
But do you know the best part?
I’ve been reunited with some old friends.
Cats I remember from my outdoor days are here too. They were rescued by these same kind people before I was. At first I couldn’t believe it. There they were… safe, warm, well-fed, and completely content with their new indoor lives.
I think seeing them has helped me more than the humans realize.
If this place was good enough for my old friends… maybe it’s okay for me, too.
I’m still learning that people are safe. They never rush me or ask for more than I’m ready to give. They simply sit with me, speak kindly, and wait.
I’m even accepting treats now!
They gently toss them to me because I still like to keep people at arm’s length. It’s my way of saying, “I’m trying”… just from a comfortable distance.
Every day gets a little easier.
Thank you for taking away my pain. Thank you for giving me a warm place to sleep, good food, familiar faces, and the chance to learn that maybe my life doesn’t have to be about surviving anymore.
I don’t know if I’ll ever be the first one asking for cuddles.
But for the first time in a very long time… I think I’m starting to believe I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
Thank you for believing an old bush cat like me deserved this second chance.
