Hi… my name is Blackjack. ♠️🐾
I’ve spent a long time living out in the bush.
Every day was about finding food, staying hidden, and making it through one more night. There were coyotes, other animals, and plenty of fights. Somewhere along the way, I ended up with cuts all over my face, and my fur became so badly matted that even walking was difficult. I moved slowly because… honestly… everything hurt.
The nice people at Pet Patrol kept trying to rescue another little family of cats where I lived. I noticed there was always food under a funny-looking trap, so I started stopping by every day.
One day… the trap closed behind me.
I guess that was my lucky day.
When I arrived at Pet Patrol, everyone was shocked by the condition I was in. My fur was shaved because the mats were pulling so tightly on my skin, my wounds needed to be cleaned, and the vet discovered I wasn’t quite put together the way most boy cats are.
It turns out I only have one testicle where it’s supposed to be. The other one never came down, which means I need a special surgery called a cryptorchid neuter. It’s a much bigger operation than a routine neuter because the vet has to carefully find and remove the hidden testicle inside my body.
I’ve survived a lot on my own.
But I’m tired of surviving.
I’m looking forward to feeling clean. To healing. To finally being comfortable after what was probably a very long time living with pain.
The surgery, treatment for my injuries, medications, and veterinary care are expensive, but Pet Patrol didn’t look at this scruffy old tomcat and decide I wasn’t worth it.
They looked at me… and saw someone worth saving.
I think that’s a pretty wonderful thing.
With quiet gratitude,
Blackjack ♠️💙🐱
