Rufus

Rescue:

Pet Patrol was alerted to a rural property where the number of cats had quietly grown beyond what
one family could manage. After an elderly woman passed away, her daughter inherited the
farmhouse, barn, drive shed, chicken coop, and the many cats her mother had lovingly cared for
over the years. As time went on, it became clear that keeping up with spaying and neutering had
become impossible, and by the time help arrived, there were 12 adult cats and 19 kittens living
throughout the property. While the buildings themselves were a little worn and cluttered, the cats
had managed to create cozy little shelters for themselves amongst the farm equipment, stacked
furniture, boxes, and warm straw scattered through the sheds and coop. A heat lamp in the chicken
coop helped keep many of them warm, and despite their circumstances, the cats were healthy,
friendly, and eager for attention. Volunteers were greeted by affectionate adults weaving around
their legs while tiny kittens peeked out shyly from behind abandoned fridges, stacked lawn chairs,
and hidden corners before slowly venturing out to investigate. They were safely brought into Pet
Patrol’s care, where they could begin their next chapter in loving foster homes.

Personality:

Rufus is a calm, chonky little boy with the sweetest personality. He has always been on the round
side, and his adorable potatolike appearance makes him extra lovable, especially when he
attempts a little kitten zoomie. Rufus may grow into his chunky look, but for now it only adds to his
charm and cuteness. He is a cuddly little love who enjoys affection, attention, and being close to his
people. Handraised around children and used to being handled often, Rufus is a wellsocialized
kitten who is comfortable with love and snuggles. Raised with many other kittens, he is used to
companionship and would likely enjoy another feline friend in his forever home. Rufus would make
a wonderful match for someone looking for a sweet, gentle kitten with a soft, cuddly heart. Rufus
would like to be adopted into a home that will keep him safely indoors.
