Rescue:
A very concerned call came into the Pet Patrol line about a pretty momma cat named Gizmo.
She had been noticed in the neighbourhood for quite some time, and appeared to be pregnant. She was being fed, but because she was skittish (wary of predators and people) they
were unable to rescue her. Trying to hand catch a cat is never a good idea unless they are
friendly and can be picked up. Gizmo eventually had her kittens in a cluttered corner of their
\side yard and were noticed when they were about three weeks of age. They counted seven
little ones who were tiny and curious. The babies were easy to rescue, but Gizmo was very
smart and avoided the trap, the tempting canned food and even a drop trap. The kittens, too
young to be away from her, were taken to a foster home, a vet tech, and bottle fed until they
were weaned. Eventually, three weeks later, Gizmo went into the humane trap and onto safety.
She has been adopted by a family friend and is living a good and healthy life. The kittens have
all thrived and are ready for their new lives.
Personality:
This little smarty pants is Hope. She was the first of her siblings to figure out how that clever
jingly ball in the plastic track worked, then taught the others how to hunt it down! Hope loves
people, but is also very self-confident and has no issues playing on her own. Pom poms are
her favourite (along with jingly balls). Her favourite place to sleep is on a warm blanket in a sun
beam snuggled up with her brother Hector – she even is smart enough to drag a blanket into
the spot she wants to sleep in! Generally pretty mellow, Hope is ready to be adopted into her
forever home. One that will welcome her into the family and keep her safely indoors.
