Rescue:
During the late spring and early summer months of this year a lot of the rescue cats coming
into our care were black in coat colour. So, it was no surprise when we received a mother cat
and her four kittens, all black and incredibly cute. Such beautifully, striking and gorgeous cats
they are. The lady who had been feeding them said that the mother cat appeared one day
under her deck. She was quite skittish and uncertain, so they thought she was feral (wild) and
unapproachable. She was concerned about rescuing the kittens and didn’t want the mother to
attack her. But none of that happened. Living outside, dealing with ever changing temperatures and weather conditions, food shortage and the high possibility of becoming prey, is not
an easy life at all. But to be rescued and have everything taken care of is quite a relief to the
mother cats. All are happy and healthy and in a doting foster home.
Personality:
Lolli and Lemondrop are two very playful, yet gentle and lovable kittens. Both will accept pets
and snuggles, and although they are fine with being picked up, they prefer to have all four
paws on the ground. Lemondrop is a bit more outgoing but surprisingly more hesitant/curious
around toys than her sister Lolli, who is the opposite. One of their absolute favorite things to do
is to play with small squishy toys that they can pick up in their mouths and carry around. They
also enjoy scratching on and climbing their cat tower, and can often be found snoozing at the
very top, curled up together. Although both are nearly pure black, they can still be told apart
relatively easily, by Lemondrop’s patches of white and Lolli’s lighter eyes. While they may be
shy at first, Lolli and Lemondrop will eventually compete for the best part of your lap for a
snooze, and would be a great addition to an adult, cat oriented home. These pretty girls are
ready to be adopted into their forever home together. One that will welcome them into the
family and keep them safely indoors.
