Rescue:
Ilario’s rescue began with a message from one of Pet Patrol’s longtime volunteers about a friendly
cat who had been found at a local dam. Surrounded by a vast wilderness area, Ilario seemed very
out of place, and many visitors had noticed the skinny boy wandering around on his own. Hungry
and clearly uncomfortable with outdoor life, he had made his way to the tourist area and began
approaching people for food and, in his own polite way, asking for help. Despite everything he had
been through, Ilario was incredibly friendly, happily accepting pets and allowing people to pick him
up and carry him with ease. Thankfully, a conservation staff member recognized that he needed
somewhere safe to go and secured him while reaching out for rescue assistance. The weather had
been kind so far, with warm days, mild nights, and little rain, but that was about to change as colder,
wet weather quickly approached. A thin, hungry cat alone in such a large wilderness area would
have faced countless challenges. Luckily, Ilario found his way to exactly the right spot, where
enough people noticed him and cared enough to make sure he received his second chance.
Personality:
Ilario is an incredibly sweet and gentle boy with a kind, unassuming nature that makes him very
easy to love. He is polite and easygoing, happily accepting affection without ever being demanding
about it. Ilario is a true cuddle bug who loves curling up with his people and is more than happy to
settle into a lap for some quality snuggle time. He also has a playful side and enjoys anything he
can chase, with catnip toys being an especially big hit! Ilario gets along well with other cats and fits
comfortably into their company, making him a lovely companion for both people and feline friends.
Gentle, affectionate, and simply an allaround good boy, Ilario is ready to be adopted into his
forever home—one that will welcome him into the family and keep him safely indoors.
