Rescue:
Ernie, Emma, Elliott, and their siblings were given a second chance thanks to a compassionate
woman who contacted Pet Patrol for advice after discovering several barn kittens she hoped to find
homes for herself. We shared information on safely screening adopters and explained the
importance of ensuring the kittens were old enough and healthy enough before being separated
from their mother. When she sent photos, it became clear that some of the kittens were only about
five weeks old—far too young to leave their mom—while others were closer to eight weeks and
ready for the next step. At the time, the kittens were living in a chicken coop inside the barn, but
when one developed a severe eye infection and Ernie was found with a badly swollen leg, she
knew they needed more intensive care. She brought them into her home, where they could receive
the attention and treatment they deserved, before they were welcomed into Pet Patrol’s care.
Throughout their recovery, Ernie, Emma, Elliott, and the other kittens leaned on one another for
comfort, forming incredibly close bonds through play, cuddles, and shared naps. Today, they have
all recovered beautifully and are thriving, ready to leave their difficult beginning behind and find the
loving forever homes they deserve.
Personality:
Ernie is proof that resilience comes in the tiniest of packages. Although he needed a little extra time
and patience while recovering from a swollen leg, you would never know it now. This happygolucky little guy races around the playroom as though nothing ever happened, always ready for his
next adventure. Playful, affectionate, and full of personality, Ernie absolutely loves attention. Belly
rubs are one of his favourite things, and he’ll happily roll onto his back before rewarding you with
the sweetest little kitty kisses. With his loving nature, playful spirit, and endless enthusiasm for life,
Ernie is sure to fill his forever home with laughter and love. Ernie is ready to be adopted into his
forever home. One that will welcome him into the family and keep him safely indoors.
