My Eye Was Hurting

Hi… my name is Vaughn. 🐾

I was given that name by the people who rescued me.

Before that, I was just trying to survive outside.

I came from a nearby farm, not far from the sanctuary and everything was a blur back then. All I really remember is how much my face hurt.

I showed up at a kind woman’s country home with blood, pus, and fluid constantly running down my face from my eye. The pressure is awful. My whole head hurt, and I was so tired.

The nice woman knew something was very wrong with me, so she set out a humane trap with the stinkiest, most delicious food. I didn’t take very long to go in.  I knew this was my chance to finally get help.

At Pet Patrol, they gently rub my sore head and try to help me feel safe. It actually feels really nice. For the first time in a long time, someone cared that I was hurting.

I need to go to the vet asap, but because I’m still a bit of a wild boy, they have to sedate me so they can properly examine my face and figure out exactly where the infection is. Is my eye damaged? Is it my tear duct? While I am asleep, they will neuter me too.

Because the abscess is near my eye, it makes everything much more delicate and serious.

I’m so hopeful for more relief. Hopeful that someday my face won’t hurt at all anymore. Hopeful that maybe I can finally relax and enjoy this safe little life everyone keeps promising me.

But all of this care — exams, sedation, medications, procedures, and follow-up treatment — becomes very expensive very quickly.

Pet Patrol didn’t turn me away when I needed them most.

If you’re able to donate or share my story, you’d be helping a scruffy outdoor boy finally experience comfort, kindness, and a life without pain.

I hope I get that chance. 💙

With hopeful purrs,
Vaughn 🐱
