Rescue:
There was a colony of cats found behind a manufacturing building in town. The colony had been
cared for by the staff, who fed them daily and even provided insulated cat houses for them. The
nice thing was that they were all friendly, but the sad thing was the colony was growing. A company
memo was sent out, saying that they had consulted with the city shelter who said to stop feeding
the cats. That is sad and wrong. Rescuing them is the answer. Coyotes were also running through
the area often and sometimes within 10 feet of nearby humans. They definitely caused many of the
cats to disappear. The colony cats names all start with the letter K, and this includes Kelsie &
Krystal. Pet Patrol volunteers and the woman who was feeding the cats were braved the elements
daily to ensure this colony was looked after and brought into care. These brave girls finally were
brought to the sanctuary and have been safe ever since.
Personality:
Kelsie and Krystal are a devoted pair of sisters who have spent their entire lives together, forming a
strong and unbreakable bond. Having lived outdoors, they are independent girls who take comfort
in each other and in the company of other cats. Krystal is the more expressive of the two and will
occasionally “chat” or accept gentle head scratches on her own terms, while Kelsie is quieter and
prefers to observe from a distance. They are not looking to be traditional indoor pets, but rather a
home that understands and respects their need for space and freedom. Together, they would thrive
in a hobby farm or rural setting where they can continue living side by side, with access to shelter,
regular meals, and a caregiver who appreciates them for exactly who they are. Kelsie and Krystal
may not be lap cats, but they offer something just as meaningful—loyal companionship, quiet
presence, and the chance to give two deserving sisters a safe place to call home, together.
