Rya

Rescue:

In the heart of a large, bustling city, a woman watched in growing concern as her friend’s unspayed
indooroutdoor cat gave birth in the back mudroom. Despite the kittens being born inside, they
received no handling, no socialization, and no real care. For eight weeks, they remained untouched
—growing up in silence and uncertainty. Worried for their future and unsure if her friend would
make responsible choices, the woman knew she had to step in. She reached out to every rescue
she could find, desperate to give the kittens a chance at a better life. Only Pet Patrol responded—
and without hesitation she made the hour plus drive to bring them into safety. In our care, the
kittens began to discover the warmth of human affection, the joy of toys, and the comfort of clean
bedding and good food.

Personality:

Rya is a curious little girl who likes to take things at her own pace. She may be a bit shy at first, but
her curiosity always wins out and she loves to come investigate what’s going on around her. When
meeting new people, Rya often does a playful little “dance,” approaching for attention and then
darting away once or twice before deciding it’s time for headbutts and pets. Once comfortable, she
becomes quite chatty and enjoys weaving around your feet looking for affection. She isn’t a big fan
of being picked up just yet, though she tolerates it calmly and never swats. Rya enjoys playing with
small sticks, hanging toys that make a bit of noise, and a worm on a string when she’s feeling
relaxed. She’s also known to chew on a stray shoelace if one is left out! Rya is happy entertaining
herself but would likely enjoy the company of another playful kitty. She loves cozy spots like
textured blankets and soft rugs, often kneading happily on fleece or sherpa. Higher perches are
another favourite, especially where she can watch the room, and she’s always curious about what
her people are doing—often coming over in the morning to investigate and sniff whatever you’re
holding, including a cup of tea. Rya is ready to be adopted into her forever home. One that will
welcome her into the family and keep her safely indoors.
