Poplar

Rescue:

Pet Patrol was alerted to a rural property where the number of cats had quietly grown beyond what
one family could manage. After an elderly woman passed away, her daughter inherited the property
and the many cats her mother had lovingly cared for over the years. As time went on, it became
clear that keeping up with spaying and neutering had become impossible, and by the time help
arrived, there were 12 adult cats and 19 kittens living throughout the property. The cats had
managed to create cozy little shelters for themselves amongst the farm equipment, stacked
furniture, boxes, and warm straw scattered through the sheds and coop. A heat lamp in the chicken
coop helped keep many of them warm, and despite their circumstances, the cats were healthy,
friendly, and eager for attention. Volunteers were greeted by affectionate adults weaving around
their legs while tiny kittens peeked out shyly from behind abandoned fridges, stacked lawn chairs,
and hidden corners before slowly venturing out to investigate. They were safely brought into Pet
Patrol’s care, where they could begin their next chapter in loving foster homes.

Personality:

Poplar is an energetic, affectionate little boy who wants to be involved in absolutely everything.
Curious by nature, he’s always the first to investigate what his people are doing and has a hilarious
habit of hopping onto shoulders to supervise chores—especially litter box cleaning! He’ll even give
your hair a few playful nibbles while he’s up there. Poplar has endless kitten energy and can
usually be found wrestling with his sister Poppy or inventing a new game to play. Despite his playful
antics, he melts into a cuddle bug when he’s sleepy, happily being cradled like a baby while
enjoying belly rubs and gently licking your hand. His permanently worriedlooking eyebrows only
make him even more lovable, because beneath them is one of the happiest kittens you’ll ever meet.
Poplar would thrive in a home with one of his siblings or another playful feline companion. Poplar is
ready to be adopted into his forever home. One that will welcome him into the family and keep him
safely indoors.
