Rescue:

Pet Patrol was alerted to a rural property where the number of cats had quietly grown beyond what
one family could manage. After an elderly woman passed away, her daughter inherited the property
and the many cats her mother had lovingly cared for over the years. As time went on, it became
clear that keeping up with spaying and neutering had become impossible, and by the time help
arrived, there were 12 adult cats and 19 kittens living throughout the property. The cats had
managed to create cozy little shelters for themselves amongst the farm equipment, stacked
furniture, boxes, and warm straw scattered through the sheds and coop. A heat lamp in the chicken
coop helped keep many of them warm, and despite their circumstances, the cats were healthy,
friendly, and eager for attention. Volunteers were greeted by affectionate adults weaving around
their legs while tiny kittens peeked out shyly from behind abandoned fridges, stacked lawn chairs,
and hidden corners before slowly venturing out to investigate. They were safely brought into Pet
Patrol’s care, where they could begin their next chapter in loving foster homes.

Personality:

Palmetto may be the tiniest kitten in the litter, but what he lacks in size he more than makes up for
in determination. Affectionately nicknamed “Pipsqueak,” this little boy never lets being the runt slow
him down and can often be found challenging his much bigger brother Periwinkle to friendly
wrestling matches. While he’s a touch more cautious when meeting new things, Palmetto quickly
finds his confidence, especially when he has one of his siblings nearby. He’s a true cuddle bug who
loves curling up with Posey or Periwinkle for naps, and he’s especially devoted to his mama, often
choosing to sleep beside her whenever he can. Sweet, gentle, and full of quiet charm, Palmetto is
ready to be adopted into his forever home. One that will welcome him into the family and keep him
safely indoors.
