Rescue:
Pet Patrol was alerted to a rural property where the number of cats had quietly grown beyond what
one family could manage. After an elderly woman passed away, her daughter inherited the
farmhouse, barn, drive shed, chicken coop, and the many cats her mother had lovingly cared for
over the years. As time went on, it became clear that keeping up with spaying and neutering had
become impossible, and by the time help arrived, there were 12 adult cats and 19 kittens living
throughout the property. While the buildings themselves were a little worn and cluttered, the cats
had managed to create cozy little shelters for themselves amongst the farm equipment, stacked
furniture, boxes, and warm straw scattered through the sheds and coop. A heat lamp in the chicken
coop helped keep many of them warm, and despite their circumstances, the cats were healthy,
friendly, and eager for attention. Volunteers were greeted by affectionate adults weaving around
their legs while tiny kittens peeked out shyly from behind abandoned fridges, stacked lawn chairs,
and hidden corners before slowly venturing out to investigate. They were safely brought into Pet
Patrol’s care, where they could begin their next chapter in loving foster homes.
Personality:
Ruffles is a calm, gentle boy with a loving personality that shines more and more each day as he
settles into sanctuary life. It didn’t take long for him to begin showing trust and affection, happily
flopping over for pets and soaking up every kind of scritch he can get. Watching him become
comfortable so quickly makes it easy to see just how wonderful he’ll continue to blossom in a
forever home. Ruffles also enjoys spending time with his buddy Rudy, and the two get along
beautifully. Sweet, easygoing, and full of quiet affection, Ruffles is the kind of cat who simply wants
love, comfort, and companionship. Ruffles is ready to be adopted into his forever home. One that
will welcome him into the family and keep him safely indoors.
