Buttercup

Buttercup

Buttercup

Rescue:

For years, one of Pet Patrol’s volunteers has been helping cats coming from a local park—a busy
area with a ball diamond, playground, and waterpark, just a block away from farmland. Cats often
migrate from nearby farms into the park and surrounding homes, finding shelter under decks and in
sheds where kind residents set up feeding stations. Buttercup was spotted living under a deck with
her three tiny kittens, also seeking shelter in the back of a nearby garage. She was the first to be
rescued, and over the next few days, her kittens were safely brought in as well. During one of the
rescues, a bald eagle was seen overhead, and with sightings of a fox in the area, it became clear
just how dangerous life outdoors had become. Buttercup and her kittens were incredibly lucky to be
brought to safety when they were.

Personality:

Buttercup is a devoted and protective mother who has spent her life relying on her instincts to
survive outdoors. She cares deeply for her kittens and keeps a close watch over them, always
making sure they are safe and nearby. While she is not interested in being handled or becoming a
traditional house cat, Buttercup is comfortable around other cats and appreciates having reliable
shelter, food, and a safe space to rest. She would thrive in a hobby farm setting where she can
continue living life on her own terms while still being cared for and protected.
