Gigi

Rescue:

One of our volunteers rescued a mother cat and her four orange kittens who had been living in a
busy local park just a few streets away from open farmland. Cats born in barns will often wander
into nearby areas in search of food and safe places to raise their young, and without intervention,
the cycle of breeding can quickly grow out of control. The kittens were around 12 weeks old and
had already been in care for a few weeks, giving them a strong chance at socialization—and in
time, they were all successfully adopted into homes. Gigi, however, had other plans. From the
beginning, she made it clear she preferred her independence and was not interested in the social
side of indoor life. After coming into the sanctuary, she continued to keep her distance from people
while remaining comfortable around other cats. It quickly became clear that Gigi is happiest living
life on her own terms and is best suited for a hobby farm setting, where she can enjoy her
independence while still being cared for.

Personality:

Gigi, despite being found relatively young, may always be fearful of humans. That said, she
genuinely enjoys the company of other cats. Gigi is most often found snoozing her very own
cardboard box, soft blankies included. If she’s awake, she’s as high up as possible to survey the
goingson of the Sanctuary. The other feline residents keep her company close by, cuddled up
against the side of her box and making sure she’s not lonely. Gigi would do be on a rural property
with access to shelter, warmth, food, and water.
