Rescue:

Pet Patrol was told about a cat, thought to be a full Persian cat, but he was actually a
Himalayan. which is a pretty fancy breed to be abandoned and left wandering around outside.
His history is sketchy but we were told he initially was living year round in a cage, in a basement and was isolated. One day he was ‘sold’ to a woman who wanted a cuddly cat of that
breed but at the time he did not know how to be a people cat and was frightened. Eventually
she gave up on him abandoned him on a back road near a farm. By the time he was discovered by the farmer he was not looking very good. Himalayan cats are not meant to be outside
let alone wandering around in the country. His fur was badly matted, providing no insulation
from the winter weather, he was sick and emaciated. When he was rescued he was very weak
and could hardly stand up, was covered in hundreds and hundreds of fleas and was on the
brink of death. His luck had finally changed when he went to a smaller cat rescue organization
and eventually to Pet Patrol. Merlin is now thriving and a very sweet, and cuddly cat.

Personality:

Merlin is so very appreciative of being rescued and is such a cuddly boy. From the moment
he arrived at the sanctuary he dove into his food and accepted all the petting and love he
could possible want. Since then, and especially at his foster home, Merlin has blossomed
healthwise and in his adoring personality. He loves to cuddle with his people and is happy to
keep you company at all times. He plays a little, and catnip toys are his most favourite, he is
gentle and easy going. Merlin has a wonderful, healthy life ahead of him. He
is ready to be adopted into his forever home. One that will welcome him into
the family and keep him safely indoors.
