Rescue:
A woman called the Pet Patrol line very concerned about a little cat that she had heard about.
Her neighbours recently approached her (knowing that she has a cat herself), and said that
they needed to ‘get rid of this boy’. Apparently he had scratched the furniture – they did not
have a proper scratching post in the house for him – and they just couldn’t have that. This was
Dewy and they were going to toss him outside. In the middle of the winter! Minus 15 degrees.
No shelter, no food, no winter fur, no hope. The woman was lovely and she quickly retrieved the
cat from her neighbour and placed him in her bathroom until he could be transported to Pet
Patrol. He was originally rescued from a farm when he was just a tiny kitten, had never been to
a vet and was fed the lowest grade cat food possible. He was not looked after well; but his life
will change for the better now.
Personality:
When Dewey first arrived at the sanctuary he hid under his big cushy cat bed and was very
unsure of all the changes. He had not planned on being taken from his home, but at least he
was in a safe environment and not chucked out into the snow. Within two days he was chatting
away and asking questions. He is happy to be pet and cuddled, and wants to be with people.
It has been fun watching him explore the playroom and find the different toys. He is such a
lovely little cat. He is polite and friendly towards everyone, good with the cats in the sanctuary
and will come to you for petting. Dewey is ready to be adopted into his forever home. One
that will welcome him into the family and keep him safely indoors.
