Rescue:
A woman was concerned about wee kittens that had been born in her backyard and were now
about eight weeks old. Originally the mother cat had shown up in the spring and was always
second in line to the food dish after another female cat. The top cat eventually left and the
mother cat was able to feast on the daily feedings freely. The woman had first noticed this cat
while she was pregnant and now obviously slimmer, had given birth in a protected area. At the
back of the property there were tree limbs piled up and compost and brush were covering it. It
was like a cave and that is where they first saw the kittens playing. Eventually the kittens (including Jolly)
were enticed closer to the house and then invited into the
shop. There they were able to provide a warm and dry environment for them, and of course
socialize them. The mom being extremely feral will soon be rescued and spayed. She has
everything she needs on this property and will be released but there will not be any more
unwanted kittens.
Personality:
Jolly is a sweet little guy, cuddly and definitely a lap cat. He purrs all the time. He can be a
little timid with sudden movements and loud noises, but overall a friendly and affectionate boy.
He is chatty and seems to ask a lot of questions and tells you what is going on. He is very
active and playful and needs a buddy that can keep up with him. Jolly can
find fun with anything and after chasing and capturing a toy he will carry it in his mouth with
great pride. Racing through the kitty tunnel is a favorite as is the cat hammock and his scratching
post (a must in his new home). He can be found sleeping on pillows or soft blankets during
most of his down time if he is not on your lap. Jolly is ready to be adopted into his forever
home. One that will welcome him into the family and keep him safely indoors.
