Rescue:
A few years ago a woman was visiting a neighbour in their back yard, and noticed a rabbit
frozen in motion. Close by she saw three black kittens intently watching the rabbit from under
the deck. Pointing this out, the neighbour said she was surprised as she had no idea there
was a young feline family taking refuge in her yard. A mission was put in place to rescue
them all.. Not knowing of any cat rescues at the time, the kittens were taken to the local vet
clinic, spayed or neutered and rehomed. The mother cat, Dream, was rescued as well but
they let her back out because the clinic was not open at that time. This is very unfortunate
because from there Dream continued to breed uncontrollably and by the next year there were
many homeless cats in the neighbourhood. Cat houses were provided as was daily food and
water year round, but something had to be done. Dream and her colony were all brought into
Pet Patrol care and have done well.
Personality:
It has taken a bit of time to convince Dream that people can give good back rubs, that brushing
feels great, but she has definitely made positive strides in her present foster home.
Dream is a playful cat now, which is great to see since her life was all about survival before.
She sits close to her foster so she can receive pets and treats, not wanting you to approach
her face on or make sudden movements. There is still work to be done with this pretty little cat
but she is coming along. Dream has a permanent head tilt which appeared suddenly. This is
caused by a virus and after medication it is 90% corrected, she will always have the tilt, but
she is feeling much better now and resumed her activities. Dream is ready to be adopted into
a patient and understanding home. One that will welcome her into the family and keep her
safely indoors.
