Rescue:
Greta and her five babies (four boys and one girl) were rescued from a small town outside of
the city. An older man had left a message on the Pet Patrol line, telling us about the little feline
family under his deck, he was concerned for their welfare and also about future breeding.
Often a mother cat will leave her kittens once they reach twelve weeks of age, knowing that
they have shelter and food, within ten days of not nursing she will go into heat and reproduce
again. The kittens will begin to breed as well, once they are six months old. The man felt they
needed a better life. It was nice to know that Greta was a friendly girl which would make finding
her a home much easier. On the day that he was planning to bring them into Pet Patrol
care, they disappeared, but at the same time the weather had suddenly turned very cold, wet
and windy. She was hiding them from this drastic change in weather. Two days later they all
showed up again, were gathered up and brought into Pet Patrol care.
Personality:
Greta is a lovely cat. She is quite petite and it has been wonderful to see her fur change from
a dull and matted mess to a shiny and sleek coat. She has a sweet purr and you will hear it
when she is being brushed or pet. She is an easy cat to love as she has an incredibly calm
temperament and has never shown any aggression or upset. Greta is now coming into her
own as her kittens are weaned and she gently plays with toys. She likes watching the squirrels
and birds outside and is not missing the outdoor life at all. She is a lovely cat ready to be
adopted into her forever home. One that will welcome her into the family and keep her safely
indoors.
