Rescue:
When first spotted Chance had shown up in a residential trailer park, near a busy highway and
open fields. One woman who lives there has a heated cat shelter and puts food out for any
stray cats that need help surviving outside. She saw him on her trail cam the first time, and he
was very nervous of every little noise and would jump or scamper away. He would arrive at
the feeding station late at night or very early in the morning before the sun came up. Our
volunteer could hear him meowing outside to announce his arrival and she would immediately
take out his food. Eventually he stopped running off when she opened the door, and one day
he allowed her to touch his head while engrossed in his dinner. He was very hungry. Where
did he come from and was anyone looking for him? The decision to bring Chance in sooner
than later, was because of the change in weather and a neighbour’s cat was stalking and
putting him on the run. Not to mention the coyotes howling in the field just a block away.
Chance did not seem to have the hunting skills needed to survive outside for long, and it took
no time at all for him to be rescued and into Pet Patrol’s care.
Personality:
Chance would hiss and make a fuss when he first arrived, but we knew he just didn’t understand
that everything was going to be ok. As soon as we touched him he melted and began to
purr. Within days he was rolling over and looking at us upside down, wanting his belly rubbed,
and would purr loudly when his chin and ears were scratched. Such a nice boy and
how frightened he must have been while outside alone. Chance is now ready to be adopted
into his forever home. He is gentle and sweet, and likes his toys and other cats too. He is
looking for a home that will welcome him into the family and keep him safely indoors
