Rescue:
Tia was named so because she was found on a golf course. Several people had contacted
Pet Patrol about this little cat who had an injury to her neck. Her fur was missing, and she
was frightened. There were a few golf course cats there already to keep down the mice
but they were all strays that just showed up one day. None of them were spayed or neutered
or had any vaccines to protect them. When it came time to rescue Tia, it took a few
days to convince her that she needed to go into the humane trap. Although there was other
food around, the canned cat food was inside the trap and ever so tempting. Finally, this little
one went in and was on her way to safety. Her neck injury was attended to immediately and
she thrived after that. Although timid and unsure about people and being picked up, she has
come a long way since then.
Personality:
Tia was intimidated by the other more outgoing and active foster kittens, and was not comfortable
coming out to people with them around. Now that she is the only cat there, she has
become more interactive with her people. She is shy but not unfriendly and is making
progress and gaining confidence. She likes to sit on the bookshelf near her foster mom’s
office desk and hang out while she is working. With some encouragement she will jump up
onto the couch and sit by you to be pet. She likes belly rubs but is unsure about being
picked up just yet. Despite having all types of cat toys, she prefers to knock pencils off the
desk and chase them around the room. Tia would be best as a solitary cat or with a mellow
older cat in her forever home. One that is serene and routine. She is ready to be adopted
into her forever home. One that will welcome her into the family and keep her safely indoors.
