Rescue:
Tommy’s journey to Pet Patrol began when a couple who had owned cats for many years noticed a
handsome brown tabby visiting the back deck of their home on a quiet city street. He had been
coming around for a little while, but they soon realized he was limping and clearly needed help.
They began feeding him and, increasingly worried about his condition, reached out to several
rescue organizations. Pet Patrol responded, and photos sent ahead showed that Tommy’s back left
leg was severely swollen around the hock and knee. It appeared he had suffered puncture wounds,
possibly from an encounter with another animal, and the injury had become badly infected while he
was trying to survive outside. Tommy was brought immediately to the vet, where Xrays revealed
just how much damage had occurred. Sadly, the infection had gone on for too long and his knee
joint was so badly damaged that there was nothing left to save. The very next day, Tommy
underwent surgery to have his back leg amputated. What could have been a very different outcome
changed because a caring couple noticed a struggling cat on their deck and refused to look the
other way. Tommy is now safe, painfree, and thriving in Pet Patrol’s care.
Personality:
Tommy is an incredibly sweet and affectionate boy with a calm, gentle nature that makes him easy
to fall in love with. Despite everything he experienced before coming into care, he has remained
wonderfully trusting and has adapted beautifully to life as a tripod cat. Having three legs certainly
hasn’t stopped Tommy from enjoying life! He is social and easygoing, happily meeting new people
and getting along well with other cats. More than anything, Tommy seems content simply knowing
he is safe, cared for, and surrounded by people who love him. His happygolucky personality and
affectionate nature shine through more every day, and he has proven just how resilient he truly is.
Tommy is ready to be adopted into his forever home—one that will welcome him into the family and
keep him safely indoors.
