Rescue:
Pet Patrol volunteers were alerted to a property where a growing colony of cats was struggling to
survive. Two neighbouring rental properties had become overrun with old vehicles, which created
endless hiding places for cats but provided very little safety. By the time help arrived, there were
approximately five adult cats and fifteen kittens between the two properties. Some of the kittens
had taken shelter inside a neglected shed, the condition inside of which was heartbreaking: clutter,
deceased animals, unknown chemicals, and debris scattered throughout. Several of the kittens
arrived completely unfamiliar with human kindness, and two were suffering from severe eye
infections. Shizen’s eye was too badly damaged to save and had to be surgically removed.
Although they were understandably terrified when they first came into care, patience, gentle
handling, and plenty of love helped these resilient kittens discover that people could be wonderful.
Personality:
Suki and her sister, Silva, are best buddies and can almost always be found cuddled up together for
a cozy nap. They play wonderfully together and truly complement each other. Suki is a bundle of
energy who will happily chase anything that moves! Her favourite toys are the wire dancer and
pingpong balls, but put a simple paper bag on the floor and she’s in absolute heaven. She’s also a
very cuddly kitten who loves attention and affection from her people. Silva is the calmer of the two,
but she still enjoys a good laserlight challenge as she tries to catch that elusive red dot. She loves
playing with the wire dancer alongside her sister—one kitten on each end—battling it out in an
adorable game of tugofwar! These two girls truly adore each other and have a very special bond.
They would do wonderfully together in a loving home where they can continue to play, cuddle, and
keep each other company. They must be adopted into a home committed to keeping them safely
indoors.
