Rescue:

Reggie’s journey to safety began last summer when he appeared at one of Pet Patrol’s volunteers
feeding stations in a small rural village. Scared and wary, Reggie would dart away at the sight of
the volunteer who fed him. Over the next month, he stopped running but still kept his distance. For
three months, the volunteer worked patiently to gain Reggie’s trust, protecting him from other cats
that picked on him and offering him canned food with a kind voice. Slowly, Reggie began talking
back to her, and she knew it was only a matter of time before he let her help. As the weather turned
colder, Reggie stuck close to the house, loudly voicing his displeasure at being outside. One snowy
night, after disappearing for days, Reggie returned, meowing loudly as if to say he’d had enough of
the winter. This time, when the basement door was held open, Reggie bolted inside, finally safe and
warm. It took time for him to accept touch, but once he did, Reggie’s sweet side shone.

Personality:

Reggie has made tremendous progress in foster care. When he first arrived, he was extremely
timid; spending weeks hiding in his cubby, nervous with every sound, and even running from the
television. But with time and gentle care, he’s grown more confident. He now enjoys watching TV,
sleeps beside his foster mom, and has clearly adjusted to indoor life. He still hides when visitors
arrive and because of this, Reggie would benefit from a quiet adult home with more people around
and at least one other friendly cat to interact with. He’s made strides by watching and bonding with
his current feline companion and would likely continue to thrive with a social role model. Reggie is a
sweet and gentle cat who needs a quiet, patient environment and a family willing to let him blossom
at his own pace. Once he feels safe, he is affectionate, loyal, and loving. Reggie is ready to be
adopted into his forever home. One that will welcome him into the family and keep him safely
indoors.
