Rescue:
A woman who lives an hour north of the sanctuary emailed to say that she was in need of
finding a place for a mother cat and her four kittens. The mother cat, Niah, had been found as
a stray in the driveway of an elderly couple’s home, and was invited inside. Within a short
period of time she gave birth to four kittens, over a two day period, in different rooms of the
house (they were all collected and quickly placed in a birthing box). Since the couple who
found Niah were elderly they felt they should not have little ones under foot and already had
pets in the house to care for. A friend of a friend started searching for cat rescues, she found
that there are none in her area and no city shelter either. Finally, she contacted Pet Patrol, and
the mother cat and kittens arrived the next day. They were all dramatically hungry, screaming
for their empty tummies, and when food was put out could not get their faces into the dish
quick enough. The poor kittens were thin and mama also, was in poor shape.
Personality:
Nico is light gray tabby cat and is the bravest of the kittens and is the first to seek you out for
cuddles, play and treats. He is the initiator of the kitten Indy 500 and can be seen at the front
of the pack running around chasing toys and bouncing. This agile boy loves the cat tree and
will grab the side and race to the top chasing one of his siblings. He is a very friendly and
sweet boy and will seek you out for pets and cuddles when he is tired and ready to have a nap
on you. Nico loves feathers and anything that he can chase. In his foster family, he actively
plays with a gentle child and adores every second of it. He is a lover to people young and old
and does not get fazed by a noise or a busy household. This little one had a rough start in life
but under Pet Patrol’s care he is flourishing and thriving and ready for his new home. One that
will welcome him into the family and keep him safely indoors.
