Rescue:
Meko and Mira came from two separate places, but have become fast friends and sisters.
Meko was found on the street, all by herself, very small and frightened. She was shivering in
the cold and with a major blizzard coming, she was quite frightened to be without shelter or
food. She eventually made her way to a woman’s yard, who then messaged a local cat rescue
about the kitten’s dilemma. She was not sure if she should touch this little cat but once she did
she realized that Meko was friendly. She was easily placed in a carrier and taken into Pet
Patrol care. Little Mira was found in a hay and straw barn. She was born there with her siblings and a wiley mother cat who avoided the humane trap needed to rescue her. There are
many buildings full of huge bales of hay that are sold to other properties that cannot produce
enough to feed the animals in their care. The drive sheds are waterproof, enclosed, and
have lots of places to have litters of kittens. Within the last few years, at least thirty cats have
been rescued from there and rehomed successfully. Mira, too, was easily put into a carrier and
brought into our care.
Personality:
Meko and Mira are a loving, loyal, and playful pair. Meko loves to cuddle, play, and explore.
She is very trusting and always purring. Mira is a bit shy at first, but once she comes out of her
shell, she loves to play and be pet. Her favourite spots to nap are fuzzy blankets or in the
sun by the window. Meko and Mira are both very sensitive to loud noises and sudden movements, so they appreciate a calm and consistent environment. These kittens enjoy being at the
center of attention, and should be the only pets in the household. They are ready to be
adopted into their forever home. One that will welcome them into the family and keep them
safely indoors.
