Rescue:
Baby Ramos, his name means strong one, was found in the barn where he was born. His
cries for help were just a whimper but could be heard by the people in the barn and soon they
saw the dilemma he was in. Ramos had stopped breathing just before they reached him, but
they breathed life back into him and they got him untangled. Mother cats in the barn tend to
have their kittens up in the hayloft amongst the bales of straw and hay, where they are safe
from the large animals’ downstairs. But in this case this little guy was found hanging by bailing
twine struggling to free himself but unable. The twine was tightly wrapped around his leg and
neck and the more he struggled the tighter it got. By the time they got him untangled his front
right foot was very swollen to four times the size, he had no feeling in it, the shoulder was
dislocated and the leg itself was damaged. This happened on a Thursday and by the time he
arrived at Pet Patrol it was five days later. The leg could not be saved as it was now infected
and he had no use of it. The foot was still very swollen and there was no circulation. The very
next day he was at the vet clinic and his leg was amputated. There was no other way around it,
and Ramos, the strong one, has thrived. He’s a happy go lucky kitten and enjoying his new life.
Personality:
Ramos is such a sweet and loving little survivor. He has really thrived in his foster home with
his kitten buddies and a good cat oriented family. He has learned how to walk around on his
three legs very well, and since it is his front leg it was a bit of a challenge. Most of a cat’s
weight is at the front end of their body so when they are missing a front leg it is a little more
awkward. Ramos is cuddly and affectionate and from day one loved to be held close to your
heart. He is also very playful and active like any other kitten, chasing toys and scooting
through the cat tunnel. Ramos is ready to be adopted into his forever home with a buddy or
playmate. One that will welcome him into the family and keep him safely indoors.
