Rescue:
Pet Patrol has many supporters and many situations were cats are living on country properties.
Those that are lucky enough to have a low cost spay neuter clinic in their area are able
to have their barn cats altered. This controls their colony so that they don’t have an abundance
of unwanted kittens born yearly. Although cats can be considered a dime a dozen in the most
remote places, we don’t need to have more born and continue the problem. In the case of
Sweetie she was a cat that would avoid the live trap at all costs. She was a timid barn cat,
and over time she showed what a friendly girl she was, but by that time she was heavily pregnant
with a litter of five kittens. The farmer was sure that he heard the wee cries of new borns
one day, and finally found them in a huge old fountain that is stored in a corner of the barn. It
is difficult to get to the inside of this garden feature, but just big enough for Sweetie, thus
making it a safe place to give birth. Soon this little feline family came into Pet Patrol care.
Personality:
Sweetie is a funny little cat in that she likes to be pet the most when she is up off the ground. A
window sill, back of the couch, or on the cat tree will work. Bending down to pet her sometimes
is intimidating for her and she will then jump up onto something and ask for your
attention. She is a sweetie though in that her personality is gentle and affectionate, she is not
skittish or aggressive, but just a nice little cat. She has done well in the transition from farm
and a barn life to living indoors and has enjoyed watching the weather change from
hot to cold and wet, from the comfort of the couch. Sweetie is ready to be adopted into her
forever home. One that will welcome her into the family and keep her safely indoors.
