Ryssa

Rescue:

Pet Patrol was alerted to a rural property where the number of cats had quietly grown beyond what
one family could manage. After an elderly woman passed away, her daughter inherited the
farmhouse, barn, drive shed, chicken coop, and the many cats her mother had lovingly cared for
over the years. As time went on, it became clear that keeping up with spaying and neutering had
become impossible, and by the time help arrived, there were 12 adult cats and 27 kittens living
throughout the property. While the buildings themselves were a little worn and cluttered, the cats
had managed to create cozy little shelters for themselves amongst the farm equipment, stacked
furniture, boxes, and warm straw scattered through the sheds and coop. A heat lamp in the chicken
coop helped keep many of them warm, and despite their circumstances, the cats were healthy,
friendly, and eager for attention. Volunteers were greeted by affectionate adults weaving around
their legs while tiny kittens peeked out shyly from behind abandoned fridges, stacked lawn chairs,
and hidden corners before slowly venturing out to investigate. They were safely brought into Pet
Patrol’s care, where they could begin their next chapter in loving foster homes.

Personality:

Ryssa is just beginning to discover how wonderful indoor life can be, and it’s been lovely watching
her settle in more and more each day. She absolutely loves attention and happily melts into gentle
pets and affection from the people she trusts. While toys are still a little unfamiliar to her, she’s
slowly learning how to play and becoming more confident as she adjusts to her new surroundings.
Ryssa is wonderful with other cats and shares an especially close bond with her brother Rudy. The
two find comfort in one another and would love nothing more than to continue their journey side by
side in a forever home together. Sweet, gentle, and quietly affectionate, Ryssa is blossoming a little
more every day. Ryssa is ready to be adopted into her forever home. One that will welcome her into
the family and keep her safely indoors.
