Rescue:
There was a colony of cats found behind a manufacturing building in town. The colony had been
cared for by the staff, who fed them daily and even provided insulated cat houses for them. The
nice thing was that they were all friendly, but the sad thing was the colony was growing. A company
memo was sent out, saying that they had consulted with the city shelter who said to stop feeding
the cats. That is sad and wrong. Rescuing them is the answer. Coyotes were also running through
the area often and sometimes within 10 feet of nearby humans. They definitely caused many of the
cats to disappear. The colony cats names all start with the letter K, but the matriarch was
affectionately dubbed Grandma. Pet Patrol volunteers and the woman who was feeding the cats
were braving the elements daily to ensure this colony was looked after and brought into care. After
seeing so many of her lineage get rescued, it was Grandma’s time for a cozy life.
Personality:
Grandma has spent her entire life outdoors, surviving in a place that was far from safe, surrounded
by heavy garbage trucks and wildlife. After seven years of fending for herself, she finally decided
she’d had enough—and as the last cat remaining at the site, she bravely walked into a trap, ready
for a new chapter. Now, Grandma is discovering the comfort and security of indoor life, and she
truly appreciates having a safe place to rest and a full belly every day. While she enjoys this
newfound safety, she would thrive in a quiet hobby farm setting where she can still have some
independence and freedom, with a warm shelter to call her own. Grandma shares a special bond
with her daughters, Kelsie and Krystal, and would love nothing more than to be adopted alongside
them so they can stay together as a family. If you have a peaceful hobby farm and can offer a safe
place to sleep, consistent food, and a little patience, Grandma and her girls could be the perfect
addition to your life.
