Rescue:
A woman who has helped with rescuing cats in the past, in her small village, was contacted by a
former neighbor. She was told about a mother cat that had been abandoned at the front of their
home, which was becoming far to common. Wanting to help her right away, they brought Solene
into their garage where she could be safe and sheltered. About a week after arriving, and a surprise
to them, she gave birth to three kittens. Before those kittens were fully grown, however, she went
into heat again and was briefly allowed outside. Soon after, she returned pregnant once more and
later had a second litter of seven kittens. The first litter included Smarties and Snickers. When
Solene and her newborns were rescued, Smarties and Snickers were found shortly after in the
same village. The entire extended family is now safe and warm and ready for the indoor life.
Personality:
Smarties may be a little timid at first, but once he feels comfortable, he quickly becomes a very
affectionate and attentionseeking companion. He’ll follow you around and even stretch up to reach
your hand to let you know he’s ready for pets. While he enjoys belly rubs, they can sometimes be a
playful “trap,” adding a bit of fun to his personality. Smarties is still learning how to play with people
but enjoys chasing mouse toys and zooming through tunnels. He loves perching up high on a cat
tree where he can relax and watch everything going on around him. He’s also learning to be picked
up and is making steady progress. Smarties gets along very well with other cats and would thrive in
a home with a feline friend. Smarties is ready to be adopted into his forever home. One that will
welcome him into the family and keep him safely indoors.
