Rescue:

A woman who had rescued a number of cats from her area told Pet Patrol about a couple in their
early sixties who needed to rehome some of their cats. Although their house looked tidy from the
outside, there were definite signs of hoarding on the inside. The house was crowded with furniture
and clutter on the floor, with only narrow pathways in between. Every surface had something on it
and a pungent odour stuck to the air. Additionally, there were about thirty cats and kittens, including
a very pregnant Genie, roaming the house. Evidence that the cats were not being fed regularly
could be seen through a scattering of empty food and water dishes. The couple lived on an
extremely limited income and weren’t able to buy cat food or clean up the litter boxes. Rescuers left
bags of food to help, but knew that the cats needed to be taken out of the situation if possible. Now,
after driving through a blizzard, Genie and her friend Goldie are finally safe in Pet Patrol’s care.

Personality:

Genie truly lives up to her nickname, “Queen of the Pinto Beans.” With her beanshaped
figure,
extra toes, and coat colored like a pinto bean, she is as unique as she is regal. A cautious but
playful soul, Genie takes her time to trust, but once she does, her affectionate side shines. She’ll
softly meow for attention, purr contentedly with a shoulder rub, and then settle nearby to keep a
watchful eye on her kingdom. She loves cozy cavelike
beds where she can feel secure, and at
night she curls at the foot of the bed against a pile of blankets. Playtime is another way this queen
shows her spirit—string toys, nip kickers, and springs are her favorites, but she’ll happily chase her
own tail if nothing else is available. Genie is a sweet, loyal companion who will thrive in a calm
home where she can rule with love, grace, and just a little mischief. Genie is ready to be adopted
into her forever home. One that will welcome her into the family and keep her safely indoors.
