Rescue:
Gus came from a trailer home belonging to a very elderly woman whose health had declined
significantly. The home was in deep disrepair, dark and stuffy, with raccoons having broken in
through holes in the structure. When he arrived at Pet Patrol, it was clear that while he had been
fed, his care had been lacking for some time. Him and a companion, Pixley, were covered in fleas,
their coats dull and sunscorched,
and their bodies scratched from navigating the cramped and
cluttered space. What should have been sleek black fur appeared almost sable in colour from sun
damage and poor conditions. They ate and drank ravenously upon arrival, and although frightened
at first, it didn’t take long for them to relax in their new, clean environment. With steady care and a
quiet space to decompress, Gus and Pixley have both begun to heal—physically and emotionally.
Personality:
Gus is a gentle, affectionate boy with a tender heart. He is generous with purrs, nuzzles, and kitty
kisses, clearly grateful for the comfort and calm of sanctuary life. Gus loves being petted, is easy to
handle, and adapts well to new environments. He’s still exploring and growing in confidence but
enjoys gazing out the window, discovering toys, and socializing with other cats. After spending so
long in a stuffy, overcrowded trailer, Gus is now thriving in the fresh air and cleanliness of his new
space. Gus is ready to be adopted into his forever home. One that will welcome him into the family
and keep him safely indoors.
