Rescue:
At Spring’s start, an email arrived at Pet Patrol: “We have quite a few barn cats that we would like
to rehome. I know this time of year is especially overwhelming with cats, but I was wondering if you
might have space.” The sender lived on a rural property where two unaltered cats—a male and a
female—had arrived last year. As expected, they each started families of their own. The small
population of cats grew quickly. With breeding season fast approaching, the property owner knew it
was time to rehome them before the colony expanded. On the day of their arrival, the sanctuary
was bustling. Among the chaos, these barn cats brought a quiet joy. Four of the ten cats were
welcomed into our care that day, each one sweet, gentle, and curious. They settled in easily,
embracing the warmth and safety of indoor life—and the promise of a brighter future.
Personality:
Dario and Deacon are an adorable bonded pair of brothers who balance each other beautifully.
Dario is the adventurous one—curious, playful, and full of confidence. He loves toy mice, strings,
and especially his beloved kitty tunnel which doubles as his cozy nap spot. He’s also incredibly
affectionate, happily curling up in your lap and reaching up for cuddles like he’s giving you a hug.
Deacon is a gentle soul. A little more reserved at first, he quickly warms up to kind attention and
absolutely loves belly rubs. He’s happiest snuggled next to his people or tucked under a blanket,
observing the world around him. Deacon may let Dario take the lead, but he’s never far behind,
always ready to join in for affection or a round of play. These two keep each other entertained with
their games and love curling up together when it’s time to rest. They are learning to enjoy being
picked up, and every day their bond with people grows stronger. Dario and Deacon are looking for
a forever home where they can stay together, be cherished, and always be kept safely indoors.
