Rescue:
For over a year, Petey lived in the shadows of a workplace plant, a pet food manufacturing
company, that attracted a lot of homeless cats in the area. The back parking lot was surrounded by
old machinery and piles of storage bins and this is where he found shelter from the wind, rain and
snow, but it was by no means warm and friendly. Petey was not alone in his quest for the
necessities of life — the other cats were milling about as well but most were too scared to approach
people. The workers did what they could, feeding them daily and hoping to earn their trust. One
employee, who has brought many wayward cats to Pet Patrol for a better life, often saw Petey
during her breaks, watched as he cautiously approached the food dish. He was wary, always
keeping his distance, but something about him was different—he wanted to trust. Slowly, over a
long period of time she worked to gain his confidence, offering gentle words, sitting near him and
inching closer until, one day, Petey finally allowed her to touch him. That moment changed
everything. The once cautious cat became a lap cat, following his rescuer around like a loyal
companion. Now in Pet Patrol’s care, Petey is ready for the next step—finding a forever home
where he’ll never have to wait for kindness again.
Personality:
Petey was very shy when he first came into the sanctuary, but it didn’t take long for him to realize
that if he gets a little bit of a treat, then he’ll gets pets and even more treats! That really encouraged
him to associate with humans, as he had something positive to look forward to. It only took a short
period of time after that before he started to perk up when he realized it was petting time. This
sweet boy loves ear rubs and will push his head into your hand to to make sure you know he’s not
done with receiving affection. Petey is a good cat, not dominant by any means, and not the bravest
in the bunch, but that’s okay. His sweet nature makes him ideal in a quieter home. This handsome
boy is ready to be adopted into his forever home, one that will welcome him into the family and
keep him safely indoors.
