Petal

Petal

Petal

Rescue:

Petal came from a former coworker of one of our volunteers. She has a country property
about 20 minutes from the sanctuary and most of her barn cats are black, some with white
paws or muzzles. Suddenly, on a rainy day, she heard some crying out by the shed and it was
that of a tiny kitten. This was Petal. But where was she? Eventually the woman zeroed in on
the wood pile and by gingerly removing some of the logs she found teeny tiny Petal peeking
out with her wide eyes and uncertain expression on her little face. How adorable – but wait,
she’s a calico – all her cats are black and fixed, where did this little one come from? Such a
mystery. Sometimes mother cats will move her kittens, one by one, to avoid being found. If
she gets to the new nest and finds the kittens are starting to wander, she has to stay with them
and forfeit one. Sad. This very well could have been Petal’s dilemma. Quickly bundled up
and brought to the sanctuary Petal was screaming for food and took to bottle feeding immediately. She was just three weeks old. Now safe in our care she has thrived and has a buddy,
Willie, whom she adores.

Personality:

Petal is a sweetheart and being a bottle fed baby she thinks being in someone’s arms is just
the place to be. She cuddles right in and is quite happy to be carried and see things from up
high. Like all kitties she is energetic and can run full speed around the house, navigating
furniture and other cats beautifully. Petal is a happy go lucky kitty and enjoys the luxury life we
have provided for her which is safe, warm, dry and no lack of food and love. She is small for
her age but we are sure she will catch up to her buddy Willie and continue to do well. Petal is
ready to be adopted into her forever home. One that will welcome her into the family and keep
her safely indoors.
