Rescue:
The sanctuary is located just out side of the city limits where were are accessible to people in
town and those in our rural community. Just as the fall school term was starting we received a
call from a woman who lives on a farm and had eight children, all girls. They live a life where
things are done the traditional way and transportation is by horse and buggy and not cars or
trucks. As would happen, their female barn cat had a litter of kittens and they asked “would you
like some kittens, we have enough”. This is where little K and her four other siblings came
from (Kandy, Kreamcicle, Karly, Kato and Karmel). As our volunteer pulled into the lane she
could see all the children lined up by the house, all dressed in simple dresses and bonnets,
holding the kittens carefully in their arms. They were a little sad to see them go, but were
happy to know that other children will have the advantage of owning a kitten themselves and
the kittens would be safe
Personality:
From Karly’s foster mom: Karly and her sisters are purr machines; you come into the room or
look at them and they start! This girl is a snuggle bug and will sit on my lap or beside me for
scratches. She prefers to sit and watch the action, and would probably do better in a quiet
home. She is content to watch her sisters play with the family dog, she doesn’t run or hide, her
strategy is to stay very still and watch. She is okay with children closer to twelve who are
gentle and can be picked up by them, but prefers to play on the ground. Her favorite toys are
the ball track and dangling toys. Karly is ready to be adopted into her forever home with her sister Kandy. One that
will welcome them into the family and keep them safely indoors.
