Rescue:
Wilomina was found on a country property that has a long laneway leading to the house. The
woman and her partner who live there rarely find cats wandering their property because neighbouring farms are just too far away. They are a fair distance from the main road so if a cat
does show up it is presumed they are dumped. In the late spring this little black and white cat
(Wilomina) showed up, very hungry, very pregnant, and promptly had a litter of five kittens.
The couple cared for them all, treated them well but did not get Wilomina spayed. When the
woman called Pet Patrol, she explained that Wilomina now has had a second litter of kittens
and she could not look after all of them. She had over fifteen animals to care for and was not
able to retire because she needed to feed and care for them. She loves them all and it was
quite difficult for her to come to the realization that they needed to find homes and live a life
safely indoors and not in the barn. Wilomina and her kittens were soon in Pet Patrol care.
Personality:
Wilomina has been a dedicated mother cat to two litters now, and as they are weaned and
adopted she is starting to come out and be a loving independent cat. She follows her foster
mom around, ready for cuddles and purrs deeply with pets, massages and a nice chin scratch.
At night she is happy to curl up on the bed to keep you company, content and calm. Her foster
mom is working on helping Wilomina become more comfortable with being picked up, it is all
about trust in the people who care for her, and it will come in time and with patience. We have
found that she is very good with visitors to the house and she is ready to be adopted into her
forever home. One that will welcome her into the family and keep her safely indoors.
