Rescue:
Just down the road from the Pet Patrol sanctuary, before the bridge is a laneway leading to
three different farms. Our volunteer has driven this road a few times to pick up kittens or
young cats that the owners no longer want in their barns The lane is lined with trees and it is a
beautiful drive to an isolated property with a brand new barn built not far from the house. On
this day the weather was very cold and wet, the air in the barn was chilled and damp. You
could see the horse’s breath when they snorted. Inside this cement dwelling a wire cage was
used to house a little cat named Pandora and her two kittens Pluto & Phoenix. We had met
the momma cat in the spring and rescued her five fluffy kittens, but they would not let us have
her at that time. As our volunteer left with the kittens, they stopped her and asked if we would
take the mom too and soon all were in our care at the sanctuary. This little feline family was
very happy to have a warm and safe place for themselves.
Personality:
Phoenix is a watcher. He watches out the windows for birds, watches his brother Pluto play
around, is always on the look out for a cat wand waving by. He takes it all in, then makes his
move. Finding anything that wiggles or twitches, he will proudly pounce on it. As an affectionate kitten he likes to come to you for a cat nap and will sit quietly on your lap. If you give him a
back massage you will hear him purr sweetly. Phoenix is ready to be adopted into his forever
home with his brother Pluto. One that will welcome him into the family and keep him safely
indoors.
