Rescue:
One of Pet Patrol’s supporters noticed that there were two little kittens under the front porch of
the sanctuary property! Oh my! For almost ten years Pet Patrol has been in this particular
building and never had any kittens show up, but this summer, there have been a few. Little
Vicci and Vander peeked their little heads out, not being bothered by the sound of the loud
trucks and speeding cars that travel daily on the highway nearby. There was construction and
cars pulling into the parking lot during the day, but they seemed to be oblivious to it. They
thought they had it made…shelter under the porch and food and water put out for strays. What
they didn’t have was protection from the nonstop traffic, no adult cat to teach them how to be
hunters and not become prey and they did not have anywhere to get away from the cold, wet
or windy weather – and winter was coming. Soon a humane trap was set up and the smelliest,
fishiest cat food was found and a trail of it led the kittens out from their cave and into the safety
and into the sanctuary. There they have thrived and are now happy and healthy kittens
Personality:
Vicci and Vander are bonded brothers who have created games of Tumble and Chase together.
They are part of the Indy 500, zooming through the playroom of the sanctuary and also
scrambling up the kitty climbers to look out the windows. They are curious and outgoing, and
although nervous of people before, they don’t mind being picked up and cuddled now. They
are happy kittens who have come a long way and are affectionate and loving little cats. Vicci
and Vander are ready to be adopted into their forever home. One that will welcome them into
the family and keep them safely indoors.
