Rescue:
A volunteer, who has a feeding station at her rural village home, is used to cats just showing up.
It is assumed that they have been abandoned. One cold and rainy spring day she noticed a cat
laying in a chair on her deck, and it was soaking wet. Thinking it was the friendly cat she had
been feeding recently she went out to pet it and the cat leapt up and ran away. Not the same
cat. She kept watch for it because it was very skinny and she was concerned for its welfare.
The next night her husband said there was a “rough” looking cat laying in the empty fire pit. He
had walked past it quite a few times going to the shed and it didn’t run away. Hmmm. But by
now it had moved on again. Next night, as she was feeding the outdoor cats little Sawyer came
around and this time he was so engrossed in his food that she was able to pet him and pull
burrs out of his fur. He was easily picked up and put it in the carrier. Finally safe. Pet Patrol was
called and Sawyer was on his way to a warm and caring environment.
Personality:
Sawyer has come a long way with Pet Patrol. When he first arrived he was very unsure about
people and what we were doing, but he was also very very sick. Through lots of tender loving
care, veterinarian support, and time to just relax and let his worries of life drift away, he’s done
extremely well. He’s a very loving sweet cat, small for an adult boy but muscular and affectionate. Sawyer would be your constant companion and he just wants to cuddle, be pet and
brushed. Watching TV or snuggling at bedtime we are sure would be a very special and loving
time for both his new family and himself. Sawyer is ready to be adopted into his forever home.
One that will welcome him into the family and keep him safely indoors.
