Mercury

Rescue:

A woman pulled into the driveway of the Pet Patrol sanctuary one day, unexpectedly. She was
asking if this is where she could bring her cat. It was actually a kitten, just 10 weeks old, with
no name, no vaccinations and unwanted. Apparently, a friend of hers had allowed their cat to
have kittens and eight were born. Having difficulty finding homes for them now that restrictions
due to Covid have been lessened, and people were not taking new pets into their house until
they finished traveling. She was told by her friend that they did not have room for Mercury and
she thought it would be a nice idea for her children. Unfortunately, the woman and her oldest
child became very frightened of the kitten, not understanding his playful nature and wanting to
be affectionate. The woman just wanted to leave Mercury here and leave, she didn’t ask any
questions of how he would be looked after or the adoption process. We immediately took this
sweet boy into our care not knowing what would happen to him if we didn’t.

Personality:

Mercury is a good natured, playful and friendly kitten. He loves people and attention and
comes running to greet you when you come into the room and enjoys cuddles and snuggles.
He will play with anything that looks interesting especially furry mice and crinkle balls that he
can bat and chase. Mercury quickly adapted to his foster home, excited to explore and make
new friends. He gets along well with other cats and would be happy to have an active playmate
to play with. When tired from playing, he likes his down time curled up on your lap, purring
contently. Mercury is ready to be adopted into his forever home. One that will welcome him
into the family and keep him safely indoors.
