Rescue:
One of Pet Patrol‘s volunteers had received a call in regards to some kittens on a farm.
This is a nice tidy property well off the road which provides a safe haven for roaming cats.
However, they felt they had too many at the time. There were at least two or three adults,
and four teenagers and then there were tiny kittens. When our volunteer arrived it was a
very cold rainy fall day and everything felt damp and chilled. Going into the clean barn she
found the kittens were in a cage, surrounded by a cement wall with straw on the floor. It
was very cold in there and the kittens were all cuddled very tightly in one corner, doing their
best to keep themselves warm. Quickly they were placed in carriers and brought back to
the warmth of the sanctuary. Most of them needed some eye medication for a mild infection,
but otherwise they were bright and alert. They had only been fed mothers milk, sparingly,
and when introduced to kitten kibble they devoured it. It has been wonderful to watch
these kittens go from scared and skinny too happy and healthy
Personality:
Akella is a shy kitten who will take her time to warm up to you, but once she does, she is
easy to pick up and will lay on your lap for attention. She is braver with a sibling or playmate
to show her the way. Like all kittens she is playful and likes to run through tunnels
and chase the cat wand toy. Anything that rolls, bounces or jingles catches her interest, as
do interactive toys with her people. Akella is a sweet girl and likes to sleep in cozy places
like the big chair or under the couch when wanting privacy. She is a dear little cat that
would do well in an adult forever home. One that will welcome her into the family and keep
her safely indoors
